Living Infertility

Being My Authentic Self

Where it all began

In 2020 we decided we wanted to start a family. I had irregular cycles when I was a teenager and had always worried about being able to have a baby, pretty much most woman’s biggest concern when they decide to start a family.

We began by stopping the pill and just being relaxed, however it was quickly evident that my cycles were not regular. My GP were very helpful and carried out blood tests which did show there could be a sign of infertility but wanted to carry out further tests to confirm.

I was getting obsessed with everything, taking my temperature every morning (BBT), taking ovulation tests everyday and monitoring cervical mucus and everything possible to try and work out when I was ovulating but nothing was showing any signs of ovulation.

When people start trying for a baby they believe their journey is going to be easy. How many times do you get told to be careful because you can fall pregnant from having sex once. However, when actually this isn’t the way at all. When things become difficult even if only for a short period of time it can take the enjoyment out of the entire journey.

By the time I had further tests I was over day 90 in my cycle, luckily for us we had finally fallen pregnant. We felt so incredibly lucky and had roughly fallen pregnant around day 80 in my cycle. Our beautiful baby boy is now 3years old.
